Meet Celia
Hello and welcome to my virtual home.
I’m Celia, the Queen Bee of LinkedIn, a Marketing Consultant and LinkedIn specialist. I love helping growing small businesses and ambitious solopreneurs to ignite their online presence – on LinkedIn and beyond. I’m particularly passionate about training corporate escapees, like myself, to reposition themselves as experts and start a knowledge-based business.
My career in marketing started over 15 years ago and I’ve been a Chartered Marketer for 12 years. This means that I’m a qualified marketing professional committed, and externally audited, to continuously developing my craft. Staying up-to-date with the latest marketing thinking is something that my clients not only appreciate but rely on as well.
In 2008 I started specialising in LinkedIn marketing. In my last corporate role we were early adopters of the platform; we were running advertising campaigns, building active groups and learning how to use LinkedIn to promote business. This gave me a head start into the LinkedIn universe and I’m very grateful.
“What a joy to work with you Celia, Thank you for your patience and skill. Your rare gift in hearing, recognising, reflecting and capturing my beliefs and motivations and bringing these to life is exceptional.” Rosalind Hancell, Executive Director of Education, Reach to Teach
Professional Qualifications
We live in an increasingly complex world and in marketing, we are dealing with many complicated tools and platforms, like LinkedIn. Gone are the days that the “university of life” was enough to cover the high demands, and risks, for 21st century marketing. Solid training and qualifications are a must and here is a quick overview of mine:
- Business Made Simple University – by renowned marketing strategist and StoryBrand founder Donald Miller.
- Hubspot Academy – certified Inbound Marketing Professional
- Entrepreneur Dynamics – qualified consultant for the world’s leading profiling tool for entrepreneurs
- Chartered Marketer, CIM – qualified in 2009 and have since maintained the internationally recognised status every year
- UCL, London – Master in Politics & Security; nothing sharpens the mind like the demands of a master’s degree
Mentoring for Mentors
Beyond having the right qualifications and thirst for continuous development, it is important to be part of a supportive mentoring community. I’m very fortunate to be a member of the Entrepreneur Dynamics mentoring group and receive high quality support and guidance in my work.
I’m especially grateful to this community for the support they gave me during the lockdown and continue to do so in these exceptionally challenging times we all have to navigate. This allowed me to be able to support my own clients in the best way possible.
Being a good mentor, and I would say I probably am (at least my clients seem to think so), is not about having all the answers – I certainly don’t. It’s about knowing you can rely on tested and proven frameworks when things get foggy. It’s about knowing that you have the guidance and support of brilliant people to hold your hand when things get tough.
You know what they say about surrounding yourself with people who are better than you and the impact that this has in our own personal growth. This is exactly how I feel with the mentoring group that supports me.
Key strengths & personal style
Very much a “no-nonsense” person, straightforward and practical, I’m quite methodical and factual in my approach. Not your stereotypical pink and fluffy marketer, I’m driven by data and analysis, and I like to take time to understand things at a deeper level. I consider strategic thinking and emotional intelligence my key strengths.
If you are familiar with Insights Discovery then it may help to know that I’m a blue (organised, thorough, detailed driven) and green (caring with a strong moral compass). And I’m a Lord in the Wealth Dynamics spectrum, which again is more about numbers and analysis.
You may be surprised to learn that I’m fundamentally an introvert who plays extrovert well and enjoys connecting with new people. If you are a private person, not always comfortable with the increasing pressure of the social media world to “bare-it-all” in the name of marketing, then please know that you don’t have to. There are other ways to build a powerful online presence without revealing the depths of your soul.
On values and what matters most
Covid-19 has thrust upon us an existential crisis like no other – whether we are aware of it or not. Like many of you, I took time to reflect on what matters most, and what really doesn’t.
I practice Conscious Leadership – listening with intent, speaking with integrity, acting compassionately. Keeping it real, speaking from the heart and being loyal are things that matter to me. The lockdown also reminded me of the importance of self-care and how integral it is in the success of our lives and businesses.
Thank you for reading this. Hopefully, I’ve given you enough information to decide whether you would like to have a chat. If you think that I might be able help you with a marketing challenge then please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
Warm wishes,
Celia
P.S. Let’s connect and stay in touch on LinkedIn as well.
